Brass

V5-ready instrument tag: Brass

Usage example
Soul arrangement, short trumpet and trombone responses after vocal phrases, no continuous brass pad.

How to use it

Make the command earn its place.

Use the style or production brief to describe this sound. Specify the instrument, voice or texture it should affect; a bracketed label is not a guaranteed control. Keep a small set of compatible directions and separate them from the words to be sung.

Intended effect

Use ensemble punctuation to answer the singer and mark transitions.

Limitations

Brass covers several instruments and ensemble sizes. A broad cue can produce orchestral weight when a small horn section was intended.

A useful comparison

Compare short responses with sustained brass and judge whether the lyric has enough room.

Specificity check

If removing the tag would not change the intended energy, voice, texture or arrangement, it is probably not adding useful direction.

Using this guidance

Examples describe a musical intention. They are not guarantees that a generator will follow every cue. Keep your lyrics and settings fixed, change one direction at a time, and save the prompt, model/version and result you compare.

Editorial review: 5 September 2026. No model-specific generation test is claimed for these examples.
